About Tritonality

Discover your next chord — and understand why it works.

The Problem

I'm a violinist who's worked with algorithmic and generative music for about 20 years. I can arrange, orchestrate, and make creative choices when someone else provides the scaffolding — but that "blank page terror" when starting from scratch has always been my block.

Most tools just pattern-match or throw random chords at you. I wanted something that actually understands music — something that could suggest chords that make musical sense, not just statistical sense.

The Solution

Tritonality uses AI with proprietary harmonic analysis to understand your progression's musical context — the mood, structure, and where it wants to go. Combined with your song descriptions and region tags, this produces genuinely coherent, musically meaningful suggestions.

LLMs struggle with complex symbolic music (MIDI, MusicXML). So I focused on what matters most: chord progressions and harmonic foundations. That narrower scope is where AI can actually help create real music instead of generating noise.

A Creative Companion

Tritonality isn't "AI slop" that replaces your creativity. It's a creative companion that assists without overpowering your artistic control.

The suggestions are grounded enough to be musically coherent, but innovative enough to surprise you and act as a creative catalyst. You won't get fully automated AI workflow — instead, you get a tireless companion that never runs out of ideas and loves discussing why something works.

You keep full artistic control and copyright.
